Another great review for Dreamy Weather

This one from the Austin Chronicle:

Erin Ivey

Dreamy Weather

Texas Platters

With no overdubs, no errant pitches daubed out, and without usual backing band the Finest Kind, Erin Ivey's live debut, Dreamy Weather, shines as a bare-bones performance. Recorded at the Cactus Cafe in January, the local chanteuse invited guitarist RyDogg Johnson as her sole accompaniment, and together the duo stills even as it invigorates. Revisiting choice material from 2011 breakout Broken Gold as Ivey introduces new songs, even the familiar takes on a new outlook. The Gallic "Chocolate," chipped out of the original's dub overtones, becomes a seductive ballad as rich as its namesake, while freshly penned "Oh, Light" drifts in warm chords, light and airy despite its lyric forecast of inevitable endings, an idea furthered in stunner "Separational." In each of Dreamy Weather's nine tracks, Ivey's material readies for both the packed concert halls and a barefoot, back porch concert. By exposing herself to blemishes, Erin Ivey achieves near perfection.  ****

More good news and reviews

I'm getting SO excited for the Dreamy Weather CD release party tomorrow, just 24 hours away now.  The Austin Chronicle featured a wonderful event preview on their blog.

And the great folks at Republic of Austin, one of my favorite blogs ever, wrote a review of Dreamy Weather that knocked my socks off, with comparisons to Patsy Cline and Andrew Wyeth's masterpiece Christina's World.  My best friend in junior high had a print of Christina's World up in her house, so all those memories came flooding back.  I love how art can do that.

Support the supporters!

Here are our amazing LOCAL sponsors for this Friday's CD release party at Club De Ville (Austin).  Etch their names in your brain and give them your support when you can.  They are wonderful people with a heart for art and they are putting their money where their mouth is to sponsor our celebration of Dreamy Weather!

Dulce Vida Tequila - the world's ONLY 100% organic 100 proof tequila, 100% agave deliciousness

Austin Daily Press - specialty sandwiches (located in front of Club De Ville and on the East side at MLK & Chicon with delightful cafe seating)

Miles of Chocolate - baked chocolate dessert that will make your eyes roll back in your head, a little bit of heaven right here on earth

Skermetta Guitars - handmade electric guitars from right here in Austin.  Master Luthier Peter Skermetta made my Erin Ivey signature guitar and it is truly amazing.  It's sister guitar (made from the same flame maple and mahogany boards) is available!  Check it out.

ROAR Salon - keeping Austin beautiful one mane at a time

Black Fret - a new organization that gives grants to Austin musicians to foster more music for all of us to enjoy.  Go be a founding member!

Guild Guitars - not exactly local, but artist rep Jeff Van Zandt IS local and he is awesome to let me use the Guild F30RCE that you see in my new home video, a cover of "I'm on Fire" by Bruce Springsteen:

Can't wait to celebrate with you THIS FRIDAY, June 7 at Club De Ville (900 Red River, downtown Austin).  General admission is $10 (21+) and it all goes to the musicians.  My band goes on at 8pm.  Moonlight Towers at 9:30pm and DJ Gatsby vs. Mixer Rogers all night long!

Of course, none of this would be possible without my amazing Kickstarter supporters.  Check out the whole list and learn more about Dreamy Weather HERE.

The Daily News reviews Dreamy Weather

Austin, Texas-based folk songstress Erin Ivey has a loyal core group of fans.  So much so, in fact, that a couple hundred of them donated 154 percent of the goal Ivey set out in a Kickstarter campaign to fund production of "Dreamy Weather."  Those who gave their money (as well as those who didn't) are almost certain to fall in love with this nine-track collection of stripped-back, intimate tunes recorded during a performance at Austin's famed Cactus Cafe.  Ivey is on top of her game here, delivering soul-baring renditions of "Amelia," "Rest Your Head" (featuring pal BettySoo), "Canyon," and "Sorrow No More."  The opening cover of Tom Waits' "Alice" sets the tone for a truly remarkable performance.  4-stars  -J.Sisk
