the Reid's girl

i sold my soul to the sultans of clean. haven't actually seen the ad yet, but i had a blast recording the jingle (written by the brilliant John Mills) and taping the tv commercial in Austin. i kept a video blog through the whole process and will post that here soon. thanks for all your texts and emails about it.

Hey Erin, I think the spot was nice and I think will REALLY help your career and visibility. My guess is there will grow a little buzz of who the "girl" in the ad is. I think it was smart of Reids and smart of you.

The problem with "purity" of art is that often the most pure forms are never known since they weren't effective on the business/marketing side. I don't see it as selling out, but being smart. If it can help you get your name and talent out there, well good job.

I still think you should do more with some of the photos I took of you when you and Rolf were singing with Grand Hotel. If you have sex appeal (which you do) you ought to market that as well.

As much as they are playing the Reid's commercial ... I have a good feeling that this will help break you further out.

Hope you are well.

This is one of those rare commercials that draws your attention..... in this case because it has a catchy tune & a beautiful woman. Everyone time it comes on I am glued to the TV. I'm going to go find some clothes to take to Reid's. Nice work.

Hey, nice work in the commercial, and nice commercial, too. It caught my attention, the jingle, dancing, cute you, the whole package. I think it will definitely get you some exposure - made me google who it was and I'm glad it was Austin talent. Good luck to you, girl!

In all seriousness, congrats on making the word "slacks" sound good. If there are more opportunities, try to work in trousers, pantaloons or my personal favorite, britches.

i actually TRIED to change it to britches without anybody noticing...

hmmm your song sounds a little too close to "the show" by Lenka. were yall trying to do that?

Absolutely adorable! A really well-done spot, and remarkably...indie? Maybe not, but definitely unique and fun.

i'm checking out Lenka right now. but i didn't write the jingle. just sang it. :)

Hi Erin,

I've seen that commercial three time now now -- once at the gym and twice at home. At first I thought you were Amanda from Ugly Betty, but then I looked closer and the Reid's logo came up. At any rate, the commercial is attention getting. I don't usually Google to find out who people are in commercials...just you and the Progressive girl.

I think the ad is absolutely adorable. I'd never heard of Erin Ivey, but I just saw the commerical again and Googled it. Erin just made a new fan!

I heard you on JB and Sandy this morning. Just wanted you to know my 4 and 5 year old girls LOVE to sing the Reid song with you. It is just to cute for words. I had to record the commericial so they could watch it over and over and over and over again. At their age, it NEVER gets old. Nice job!! ---Rox

Erin,

Great commercial! I love the dress, do you know where I can buy one or who makes it?

I can't get that song out of my head!!! I think this rivals the Mr. Gatti's jingle (fellow Austinites will know what I'm talking about).

Anyway, very catchy ad (obviously)...nice job :)

I am so glad you are the singer AND were given that role in the ad. I hate it when a singer is deemed not commercial enough to appear in the ad, it stinks and is not right.

But now my quandary is: do I let my drooling husband think that the real singer is Jabba the Hut in drag, or not? ;)

When I first saw your spot on tv, I was instantly hooked. After hearing it on the radio 10 times a day, 5 days a week, for the past 2 weeks... consider me such a huge fan that I had to download the video from Youtube. Gotta do whatever I can in order to maintain my "Erin Ivey" fix.
Admitting I have a problem is hopefully my road to recovery. :P

I heard you on JB and Sandy too... and was glad to learn more about that jingle. It really is a catchy tune and you sing it really well. I am kind of a tv -snob (don't watch much), but I can't deny that is a catchy commercial. Reid's was very smart. Your voice is perfect for it.

I absolutely love you in that ad. Your voice in that ad makes it just perfect. Keep up the good work and hope to see more of your work.

Good jingle!

In a smaller way it reminds me of Andrea Bocelli. He was virtually unknown in the US before the Bellagio in Vegas used his song in their TV ads. This Reid's commercial will help brighten Erin's
future

Thanks to you my jealous wife insists I now take the cleaning to Jack Brown's. It is like she thinks you would be at the local Reids stealing husbands!!

Congratulations to all the folks who made The Reid's Cleaners commercial. Well done! I love the song and Ms. Ivey, you give a delightful performance. Wonderfully shot...it's like a mini-musical and you are radiant! Best wishes for continued success in your career.

Very seductive. Catches my attention everytime I see it. Gotta stop what I'm doing to watch. Thanks for a wonderful commerical - and if I had dry clean clothes, I'd sneak of to Reid's just hoping Erin was there to check them in. Not a dirty old man, just like what appears to be (hope you are in real life) sweet young ladies, instead of old rude farts.

well, I came here to say much the same as everyone else. The commercial gets my undivided attention every time it comes on. My wife makes fun of me for that. Great job, great voice, great look. Keep up the hard work.

Definitely a catchy commercial and tune! You sing it great, are really pretty and just all around a great commercial. I was just wondering if it was done kind of quick because you seem so natural with very little make up on and your hair up. You don't need a lot of make up anyway because you're so cute! Done quick or not, very well done, shot it was so good I had to check it out on google and there are NOT many adds that make me do that!

My 18 month old son absolutely loves that commercial. Anytime he hears you singing on the TV he drops everything in and looks up at the TV. So you've already captured the 0-2 year old demographic :-)

Erin,
This commercial is definately working for you. I googled "reids cleaners commercial" to find out who the girl in the ad was. I've now purchased you music on I-tunes and I look forward to seeing you perform live.
Best of luck to you.
From a new fan gained by the sell out. :)
